“I haven’t had surgery or anything big. I just had my eyes examined and a new prescription was written. It had been over 5 years since I had been to an eye doctor because of limited income and no vision insurance. But when I turned 65 and started on Medicare, I immediately made an appointment even though the lenses are not covered. That was over a year ago. I had new lenses put in my old frames, which are still good. I liked that I was not pressured to also purchase new frames. I also got the transition lenses. I wear progressive bifocals. I have worn glasses since I was 5 years old but even with my glasses, I have never been able to read small print, read a road map, or do simple things like thread a needle. My glasses are the first thing I put on in the morning and the last thing I take off at night. I wear them 100% of the time I am awake, but even so, I was not seeing all that well. I simply carried a magnifying glass. After I got my new glasses from Key Whitman, I could not believe how well I can see!!! I am just thrilled. No longer do I strain to see small print, I do not need the magnifying glass any longer, I can read my teacher’s edition without having the kids read it for me, and I can thread a needle … even one with a very small eye! I can actually see that tiny little hole in the top of the needle! I am just thrilled and could not be more thankful for the wonderful people who have made this possible. I might add that my vision itself has not improved at all. What was improved was the quality of work in writing my prescription.”
