Kick Off The Holiday Season With These Fun Family Events

The holiday season is just around the corner, so let the baking, shopping,
parties, and festivals commence! There are too many events taking place
in and around Dallas this month to count, but here are a few we know you
won’t want to miss.

ICE! at the Gaylord Texan

Christmas comes early to the Gaylord Texan with the annual ICE! Exhibit,
which opens on November 13. This year’s awe-inspiring ice sculpture
exhibit features
Frosty the Snowman and an all-new bonus area—a LIVE ice carving zone where you and
your family can watch a masterful ice carver create beautiful ice sculptures
before your eyes.

The 12 Days of Christmas at the Dallas Arboretum

Who said it’s too early for Christmas? The brand-new 12 Days of Christmas
exhibit at the Dallas Arboretum features an elaborate collection of life-size
Victorian gazebos filled with costumed characters from the famous
Christmas Carol. Gazebos will be encased in glass with working mechanical parts to bring
the characters to life.

The gardens will remain open late during The 12 Days of Christmas, which
runs Nov. 16 through Jan. 4, 2014. Visit www.dallasarboretum.org for details.

Capital One Bank Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot

Join thousands of other runners and walkers for your pre-Thanksgiving feast
workout at the 2014 Capital One Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot. Compete in the
unique eight-mile distance, or take it easy on the three-mile Fun Run/Walk—the
perfect distance for you and your kids.

Thanksgiving Day Football: Dallas Cowboys vs. The Philadelphia Eagles

It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving in Dallas without a Dallas Cowboys football
game. This year, the Cowboys take on the Eagles at 3:30pm AT&T Stadium.
Single game tickets can be purchased online, but if you’re looking
for a more wallet-friendly way to watch the game, check out local bars
and restaurants for watch parties, or host your own Thanksgiving Cowboys
watch party!

Parade of Lights in Sundance Square

Kick off the holiday season at the annual Sundance Square Parade of Lights
in downtown Fort Worth. The parade features more than 100 illuminated
entries, local marching bands, Cowboy Santas and much, much more. This
year’s theme is “Together For The Holidays,” and includes
both local and professional floats.

Don’t forget: when you’re outside, your eyes need to be protected—even
in cooler weather. Wear sunglasses with 100 percent UVA and UVB protection
and wear a wide-brimmed hat. Sun damage can lead to a number of preventable
eye conditions, so don’t leave home without your eye protection!
