  • Eyeglasses make your vision worse over time, so you will continually need
    to switch to stronger prescriptions

    and you become accustomed to a new reality. When you take off the glasses
    and things become blurry, it is not because your eyes have gotten worse;
    it is because you are no longer used to the way things once appeared.

    age, whether you wear glasses or not. While people who do not wear glasses
    may indeed grow to need them, those who do wear glasses most likely may
    need a stronger prescription.
  • It is necessary to periodically take off your glasses and exercise your
    eyes, as eye exercises improve vision.
    The theory that eye exercises can improve vision has been around since
    the early20th century, but there is no scientific evidence to support
    this notion.
  • Overuse of eyes is damaging to vision. Overusing your eyes can lead to fatigue, or cause a headache, but it will
    not damage vision.
  • Sitting too close to the television, using the computer for long stretches,
    or reading in the dark can damage your eyes
    . Contrary to what your mother may have said, the TV does not emit harmful
    radiation. All of these activities can cause fatigue, but they do not
    cause lasting damage. Eyes are designed for use! Still, it is best to
    avoid excessive eye fatigue.
  • Over-the-counter reading glasses damage eyes. Some people find that over-the-counter glasses help them see, and others
    find that they can postpone prescription lenses by a few years by holding
    objects further away from their faces. Whatever works for you is fine;
    these things will not damage the eyes.
  • Wearing contact lenses keeps nearsightedness from getting worse. The benefit of contact lenses over eyeglasses is purely cosmetic. The
    correct prescription will help you see comfortably, but will not improve
    your vision or keep nearsightedness at bay. However, correcting nearsightedness
    at an early age may help slow the progress over time.
  • Eating carrots improves vision. If you have a normal, healthy diet, eating extra carrots is not likely
    to impact your vision. However, the leading cause of blindness worldwide
    is vitamin A deficiency. Carrots are an excellent source of beta-carotene,
    which the body converts into vitamin A. Taking too much vitamin A can
    be unhealthy as well, so stick with that balanced diet.
