Monday to discuss some fun and amazing facts about the human eye. The

Our blog followers may recall reading earlier last month about some of
the facts that Dr. Barke will be discussing on the show. To refresh your
memory, take another look at some of the fascinating facts that Dr. Barke
will share with his audience. Do you remember the answers to the following
questions about the eye?

Q. How many parts of the eye are responsible for processing information?

Over two million

Q. Does the cornea require blood to function

No, blood vessels in the cornea would interfere with vision.

Q: True or False? Eye muscles are the strongest muscles in the body.

Q. How does the eye process information?

The retina perceives everything backward and upside down, and the brain
reprocesses this information to produce the image you see.

Q. Aside from humans, which other animals seek visual cues by looking into the eyes?

Q: True or False? Blue-eyed people share a common ancestor with every other
blue-eyed person through a common genetic mutation.

Q. A rare genetic mutation allows what percentage of women to perceive
over 100 million colors?

Two percent

Q: Why don’t human tears evaporate?

Human tears don’t evaporate because they are made of more than just
water – they also contain oil and mucous.

Q. How many unique characteristics does the eye have?

The eye has 256 unique characteristics, making retinal scanning even better
for security purposes than fingerprinting, which only has 40 unique characteristics.

Amazed? So are we! Be sure to tune in to Good Morning Texas on Monday August,
17 at 9:00 a.m. CST to watch the interview.
