Epic
When you schedule a routine eye examination at Key-Whitman Eye Center, you can feel confident that your eye exam will be accurate. By using the latest technologies, we can now determine the exact amount of “refractive error”. This is used to prescribe the precise corrections needed for your eyesight. Our doctors at Key-Whitman Eye Center can help you become less dependent on glasses or contact lenses and offer the correct procedure suited to treat your vision.
Key-Whitman Eye Center uses state-of-the-art technologies for eye examinations and vision diagnostics. We use the EPIC refraction system from Marco Technologies. The EPIC refraction system helps us to determine an accurate eyeglass or contact lens prescription. The EPIC system provides an immediate comparison between current refractive error and your old prescription, resulting in a very accurate diagnosis of your vision. Apart from that, the process is completed quickly, saving you time – an eye examination technology in today’s fast paced world.
Optos
A regular eye examination is very important to help maintain your vision and health. Key-Whitman Eye Center now offers Optomap Retinal photography which can be included in your comprehensive eye examination for an additional $20 fee. Retinal problems such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal holes and detachments, melanomas, cancer and diabetic retinopathy may now be seen WITHOUT full dilation for most patients.
All patients are slightly dilated but there is no need to fully dilate unless retinal problems are suspected or visualized during your eye exam and Optos testing. The routine Optos photos are low resolution. If a problem is discovered, high resolution images are taken with the same technology and insurance should cover the additional expenses. These images are stored within the patient’s electronic medical record for future comparisons.
Optomap Retinal Exam is fast, easy, and comfortable for all ages. With this eye exam you simply look into the device one eye at a time you will experience a comfortable flash of light which indicates the image of your retina has been taken. The biggest advantage of this exam is that it will save and the image is available immediately on a computer screen so we can review and discuss the results with you.
