It is important that you schedule regular eye exams with your doctor. Ensuring

of your eyes is a crucial aspect of self-care and overall wellness. At
Key-Whitman Eye Center, we have been proudly serving patients in North
Texas for more than 50 years.
What can I expect on my first visit to Key-Whitman Eye Center?
During a comprehensive eye examination, your doctor will test your vision,
and screen you for potential conditions and diseases such as glaucoma
and macular degeneration. Some conditions have no easily detectible symptoms
in their early stages, so you might even feel completely normal. Left
untreated, however, these conditions can cause severe loss of vision.
That’s why it is important to see our team of highly qualified and
eye doctors in the Dallas / Ft. Worth Metroplex regularly.
During your vision, we will dilate your eye’s pupils for a better
look at the retina and optic nerve. Because of this, your vision could
be slightly blurry and light sensitive for a few hours following your exam.
We encourage you to
bring sunglasses with you for this reason, though we can provide temporary sunglasses if
Other tests that may be performed during your exam include:
- Pupil testing, for sensitivity / light response
- Assessment of the health of the lens, optic nerve, retina, and cornea
- Glaucoma screening by testing intraocular pressure
- Test of peripheral vision
- Test of corrected visual potential using visual acuity or refraction test
